How to Measure for Inside Mount

Follow these 3 steps

✅ Measure the Depth
Measure the depth at the top of the window frame to ensure there’s enough space for a secure inside mount. This will also help determine if a flush mount is possible, where the product sits within the frame without protruding. Minimum depth requirements vary by shade type.

✅ Measure the Width
To account for any window shape irregularities, measure the window at three points: top, middle, and bottom. Round each measurement down to the nearest 1/8 inch.

✅ Measure the Height
Measure the window at three points: left, center, and right. Round each measurement down to the nearest 1/8 inch. Use the largest of these measurements as your ordering length.

Tips for Inside Mount Installation

  • Check if your window has sufficient depth for an inside mount.If the depth is insufficient, don't worry! You can contact us for recommendations on styles that require less depth, or you can opt for an outside mount instead.
  • Inspect the window frame or casing to ensure it is sturdy enough for direct drilling and installation.

How to Measure for Outside Mount

Follow these 3 steps

✅ Check Installation Space
Measure the height at the intended mounting location for the headrail above the window to ensure there is sufficient space to securely install the brackets and headrail.

✅ Measure Width
Measure the width of the window (starting from the outer edges of the window frame). If conditions permit, it is recommended to add 2–4 inches to the actual measured width (i.e., an extra 1–2 inches on each side) to minimize light leakage. Please use this adjusted width value when placing your order.

✅ Measure Height
Measure the height of the window (starting from the outer edges of the window frame). If space allows, it is recommended to mount the shade at least 10–12 inches above the window frame; this provides stacking space for the shade when retracted and maximizes the visible window area.

Tips for Outside Mount

  • Allow for extra space: Increase the width and height to fully cover the window trim; if there is no trim, it is recommended to add an allowance of 2–3 inches on each side (4–6 inches in total). This ensures better light blocking and privacy. (Please note: for blinds with larger headrails, allow for an extra 10–12 inches in height.)
  • Create a Larger Window Effect: Mounting the blinds outside the window frame not only accommodates the brackets but also makes the window appear larger, enhancing the room's aesthetic.
  • Check Mounting Space: Ensure there’s at least 2-3 inches of flat surface above the window or frame for the mounting brackets.
